Dual-fuel: Pairs a heat pump with a gas furnace for maximum flexibility. The heat pump runs when conditions favor efficiency, and the gas furnace takes over on the coldest nights. Higher upfront cost, but the lowest operating cost over time. Given Sunset’s position in northern Acadiana, dual-fuel is a particularly good fit.
