We perform a Manual J load calculation on every installation. This accounts for insulation R-values, window area, ceiling height, ductwork layout, and orientation to the sun. The goal is a system that runs long enough to dehumidify properly while still cooling your home efficiently.
Choosing the Right Equipment
Compressor Types
Single-stage compressors run at full capacity whenever they cycle on. They’re the most affordable option but provide less humidity control in our climate.
Two-stage compressors operate at a lower speed most of the time, stepping up to full capacity only on the hottest days. The longer run time at reduced speed removes significantly more moisture, which matters in Iberia Parish.
Variable-speed compressors adjust continuously, matching output to demand. They’re the most efficient and provide the best humidity control, but they carry a higher upfront cost. For homeowners who plan to stay in their home long-term, the energy savings and comfort improvement often justify the investment.
SEER2 Ratings and Your Climate
The federal minimum for our region is 15 SEER2. We typically recommend 16 to 20 SEER2 for New Iberia homes based on how heavily the system will be used. A higher SEER2 rating means lower operating costs, and with cooling seasons that stretch 8 months or longer, the payback period on a premium system is shorter here than almost anywhere else in the country.
The Installation Itself
We remove your existing equipment, install new indoor and outdoor components, connect all refrigerant lines and electrical, and commission the system with a full test cycle. Refrigerant charge, airflow volume, temperature split across the coil, and thermostat operation are all verified before we consider the job complete.
