This makes three things critically important during installation:
Correct sizing through Manual J load calculation. An oversized system short-cycles and leaves indoor humidity dangerously high. An undersized system runs continuously without maintaining comfort. We measure every relevant variable: insulation, windows, ceiling height, ductwork, and the island’s unique climate profile.
Appropriate compressor technology. Two-stage or variable-speed compressors are strongly recommended here. Single-stage units cycle too briefly to remove adequate moisture. A two-stage compressor runs at lower speed for extended periods, giving the evaporator coil maximum contact time with the air. Variable-speed systems provide even finer control, adjusting output continuously to match conditions.
Corrosion-resistant equipment. Salt air corrodes standard condenser coils and housing at an accelerated rate. We recommend equipment with protective coatings and corrosion-resistant components, and we pay attention to outdoor unit placement to minimize direct salt exposure where possible.
