When to Use the Emergency Line
Our emergency line is staffed after hours, but not every HVAC problem requires a middle-of-the-night service call. Here’s what does.
Call immediately:
- Complete loss of air conditioning during summer heat. Kaplan is surrounded by open agricultural land with minimal shade, and homes heat up fast when the AC stops. This is especially dangerous for elderly residents and families with small children.
- Gas smell from your furnace, heat pump, or near any gas-fired HVAC equipment. Leave the house first, then call. Don’t use electrical switches or your phone inside.
- Burning or smoking coming from any HVAC component. Shut the system off at the breaker and call us right away.
- Carbon monoxide alarm. Get everyone out, call 911, then call F & R.
- Active water flooding from your cooling system.
Can safely wait:
- Cooling performance has dropped but the system is still running
- You hear a new noise from the outdoor or indoor unit
- Your thermostat is behaving inconsistently
Scheduling these issues for regular hours saves you the after-hours premium without any risk.
