Local HVAC Maintenance for Erath
Living in Erath puts you just minutes from our Abbeville shop, which makes maintenance visits quick and convenient. F & R Air Conditioning has been taking care of Vermilion Parish homes since 1956, and Erath has always been part of our core service area. When you’re on a maintenance plan, you get two scheduled visits per year from a technician who already knows the neighborhood.
The Spring AC Service
Erath’s cooling season starts early and ends late. By March, most homes are already running their AC at least part of the day, and the system won’t get a real break until sometime in November. That’s a lot of hours on a compressor, and a lot of opportunities for small problems to snowball.
The spring tune-up covers everything your air conditioning system needs before the heavy workload begins. We check refrigerant charge and look for leaks. We clean the evaporator coil (the indoor one that collects moisture and dust) and the condenser coil (the outdoor one that releases heat). We flush the condensate drain line, which clogs frequently in Vermilion Parish’s humidity. And we test every electrical component to make sure nothing is on the verge of failing.
This visit usually takes about an hour, and it’s the single most effective thing you can do to prevent a breakdown during the summer.
The Fall Heating Inspection
Your heater doesn’t work as hard as your AC in south Louisiana, but it still needs to be checked. A gas furnace with a cracked heat exchanger is a safety hazard. An ignition system that’s failing intermittently will leave you cold on the one night the temperature drops below freezing.
Our fall visit inspects all of these systems: heat exchanger, ignition, gas valve, blower motor, safety controls, and ductwork connections. We run the system through a full heating cycle to confirm everything works as it should.
What Plan Members Get
Beyond the two scheduled visits, your maintenance plan includes:
Priority scheduling. During peak summer, our regular service calendar fills up fast. Plan members get moved ahead of the general queue. When your AC goes out in July, that means same-day or next-day service instead of a three-day wait.
Repair discounts. If something needs fixing during a tune-up or any other time during the year, plan members pay less for parts and labor.
Documented service records. Manufacturers like Lennox® require proof of annual professional maintenance to honor equipment warranties. Your plan creates those records automatically with every visit.
Your System’s Best Long-Term Investment
A maintained system typically lasts 15 to 20 years. A neglected one in Vermilion Parish’s climate often needs replacement by year 10. The difference in lifespan alone makes a maintenance plan worth it, and that’s before you factor in lower monthly energy bills and fewer emergency repair calls.
To sign up, call F & R Air Conditioning at (337) 893-5646. We’ll get your first visit scheduled and take it from there.
